Science to come

COMOSYSTEMS have been heavily involved into research for 15 years. We were installed in our  laboratory “Tecnolab” and there was a big international team of researchers: at this time, the main concern was to prove that EMF does affect our cells, (it was a revolutionary idea at the time) and more complicated, to prove that we had a technology able to compensate these effects. This was the purpose of a vast, multidisciplinary research project that ended with a bunch of peer-reviewed scientific publications. But research has a cost, and the process of publishing is a very slow process, dictated by a very heavy institution-oriented procedure.

So, this to say that we left the conventional research behind, and became, without realizing it immediately, that we were in fact “BIOHACKERS”.

This “timing” today is too slow to cope with the fast-paced technology innovations, particularly in the world of communication. Also, twenty years ago, the research equipment’s were very costly and offered less possibilities than today: today research is becoming a popular topic, therefore the industrials of research equipment’s have evolved with the new needs, and we can say than today, almost anybody with a minimum medical background ( let say with the average biological knowledge of a doctor PhD) can set up research protocols and rapidly and efficiently, get meaningful results So, this to say that we left the conventional research behind, and became, without realizing it immediately, that we were in fact “BIOHACKERS”. The new director (Dr Rene Messagier, PhD) just closed his medical office few months ago, but kept his office and turned it into a promising research unit. Nowadays, we are not hiring 20 international scientists, but with 2 medical doctors with 30 years of research experience, and with the accumulated support of experts in all fields who assist us in our every day tasks, let say that we can come up with quality conclusions and we will share it with the public: who knows, may be even you, the reader, could bring your support, make suggestions, recommend us experiments etc.

Next we will introduce a list of topics that are “in the tube” and discuss the potentials.

But for now, we must explain what our goal is: of course, research will help us optimize our technology, adapt to new communicating environments, but there is another deep desire to achieve : we want to make this information available to all: research is fascinating but it is too often reserved to an elite and everybody will not always be able to understand “how things work”. Scientists and researchers have spent  the time to build an education, and too often, they live in a bubble: our point of view is everything can be explained and demonstrated: of course, in the realm of electromagnetic fields, it is very difficult, for the simple reason that EMF are invisible. And to explain their behavior, we have to dig in “heavy duty” knowledge, such as “quantum physics”, biochemistry, or abstract models that are still at the stage of theory: many fascinating facts have been discovered for the last ten years, but it will take another 20 years before these “theoretical models” get the “stamp of official science”.

So our personal challenge is to bring to all biohackers digestible contents, that allow everybody to understand complex concepts, and make them crystal clear for the readers. This is called “scientific vulgarization”, and it is a challenge because any approximation in science can be the source of the most severe critics.

Our belief at COMOSYSTEMS is that “BIOHACKING” is going to become “MAINSTREAM”: we mean that the research potential of serious biohackers organized in “pools of know-how” may become a serious competitor to conventional research, for many reasons: capacity to work with a pool of experts worldwide, exchange of information open to the world (versus confined in a private research lab), no obligations to publish the results, low financial investments etc.

It is true that, for instance, now, almost anybody could perform analysis on microbial cultures: since cells composing our bodies have biochemical functions similar to those of bacteria, it make sense to do research on bacteria. Anybody can easily find the proper equipment’s to do this tasks: on the net, and for a relatively small budget, one can buy incubators, Petri dishes, agar, etc, and, with a good microscope and a camera set up, much can be discovered.
